Those who regularly read my LinkedIn posts know how much I love to share quotes and how they translate into my experience. In the book Good Leaders Learn (Seijts), Canadian businessman Arkadi Kuhlmann is quoted as saying “life is a blackboard you cannot erase”. How true it is; what’s done is done. It’s up to each of us as leaders to learn from our mistakes and our successes so that we continue to grow; to have a positive impact on the people around us.
Be well this Festive Season
Amidst the festivities, may I encourage you to reflect on the role that each person has played in your learning and growth.
Mindset Matters
Intentionally choosing a better mindset supports a more effective interaction. When an unhelpful mindset can be acknowledged, you’re part way there.
Advocate for Civility
Leaders have overlooked or let slide those small behaviours that can impact a team member’s experience over time.
Pick your Battles
Being a leader doesn’t mean having the loudest voice, the last say, or all the right answers.
Act I: Enter the leader
As leaders, we must be mindful of how we show-up in times of success and times of duress. Followers look to leaders for consistency, clarity, and confidence.
To Be Vulnerable Is To Be Human
The absence of vulnerability creates a barrier to connection which requires relatedness formed through shared experiences and emotions.
Be Open To Different Perspectives
My daily practices that help me generate awareness and consideration of different perspectives.
Cherish Life’s Moments
Leading isn’t all about performance goals and financial outcomes. It demands care for and connection with people on a human level.
Get Out Of Your Way
Awareness is the first step to reclaiming power from your saboteurs.
Commit To Learning
I am thankful for the turbulent experiences because they taught me to be open. They taught me to commit that from the seed of every experience there is learning to be harvested.
